Overview

DIETETIC TECHNICIAN needed for fast paced position at thriving care center

Nestled in the woods near Forbes Regional Hospital, Woodhaven Care Center is one of Monroeville's best kept secrets. A rural setting in an urban location, the Center is just five minutes from Pennsylvania Turnpike Exit 6 for easy access from any region around Pittsburgh.

Woodhaven is a 120-bed Skilled Nursing Center with an 18-bed Specialty Care Unit offering a new web-based Wound Care Program.

This innovative center is now seeking a Dietetic Technician to apply the theories and practice of dietetics, nutrition, sound economy, food spoilage and sanitation to our facility located east of Pittsburgh.

Responsibilities

This  leader will be responsible for supervising dietary personnel, and work directly with the Director of Dietary on all aspects of day-to-day operations, including:

  • Assisting in planning, preparing and serving regular and therapeutic diets based on the individual needs of residents
  • Evaluating and assisting in the operation of an effective food service, and providing insights and best practices for maximizing efficiency and success
  • Ensuring therapeutic diets are prepared and served, as ordered by a physician
  • Editing menus to comply with ordered therapeutic diets
  • Planning and conducting monthly in-service training for dietary staff
  • Implementing the use of a diet manual, recommended by the state licensing agency
  • Ensuring proper sanitation practices are followed by all kitchen/food service staff members
  • Visiting patients/residents on an ongoing basis to determine food likes, dislikes, allergies and other preferences
  • Conducting resident surveys surrounding food service, preference, menu choices, quality and general preferences
  • Documenting progress notes in patient/resident charts, and maintaining all records—including up-to-date Kardex files—in coordination with the center’s Registered Dietician

Qualifications

Applicants must be qualified Registered dieticians, a graduate of an accredited dietetic technician/dietetic assistant training program, or qualified for membership in the Hospital, Institution and Education Food Service Society to be considered. Previous food service experience in health care is preferred.
