THIS POSITION QUALIFIES FOR THE HERO'S BONUS OF UP TO AN ADDITIONAL $3/HR.

IN ADDITION TO THE REGULAR HOURLY RATE UNTIL THE END OF OCTOBER!!!

 

HarmarVillage Care Center is a comprehensive skilled nursing facility dedicated to providing high-quality whole-patient care. Through its comprehensive onsite services including cardiac, orthopedic, wound and memory support, HarmarVillage has come to revolutionize senior care in Allegheny County, helping its clients maximize their health, well-being and overall quality of life during these critical elder years.

 

As the center continues to grow and thrive, its dietary services unit increasingly relies on dedicated, hardworking professionals to provide quality, nutritious food to all residents. The Kitchen Supervisor is critical to this mission, and provides hands-on daily work in the kitchen and out, with responsibilities including:

  • Assisting in planning, preparing and serving regular and therapeutic diets based on the individual needs of residents
  • Evaluating and assisting in the effective operation of food service, and making recommendation to maximize efficiency
  • Editing menus to comply with ordered therapeutic diets
  • Instructing kitchen staff in duties and responsibilities to ensure compliance with all operational standards and objectives
  • Ensuring that therapeutic diets are prepared and served, as ordered by a physician, and editing menus to comply with these requirements
  • Visiting residents in the dining room and in their personal rooms during meal times to maintain strong communication and solicit feedback
  • Conducting new food service staff orientation and training and ongoing in-service trainings
  • Posting weekly menus and distributing information to unit clerks
  • Implementing the use of a diet manual recommended by the state licensing agency

Previous food service experience, Sanitation or ServSafe certification and a high school diploma or equivalent are required for this role. Additionally, candidates must display a strong working knowledge of portion and cost control, nutrition, sanitation and food production, and should be able to apply math, units of measurement and existing knowledge of recipes, preparation, purchasing and safe storage to the day-to-day tasks associated with this role. While not mandatory, the successful completion of an approved food service/dietary managers program is preferred.
