Overview

Activity Aide - Memory Care

Part Time – Approximately 18-24 Hrs./Wk., Primarily Evenings and Every Other Weekend

Hours are 12:30-8:30 PM or 4:30-8:30 PM, Depending On Need

Laurelwood Care Center is a comprehensive skilled nursing facility dedicated to providing high-quality whole-patient care. Through its comprehensive onsite services including cardiac, orthopedic, wound and memory support, Laurelwood has come to revolutionize senior care, helping its clients maximize their health, well-being and overall quality of life during these critical elder years. This innovative center is now seeking a  Memory Care Activities Aide to provide care and assist patients in the memory care program.

Responsibilities

The Memory Care Activities Aide is a hands-on position involving significant day-to-day responsibilities, including:  

  • Organizes and implements specific activities assigned by the Activity Director for targeted residents with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s disease diagnoses
  • Maintains accurate 1:1 and group activity attendance records of resident participation in memory care activities
  • Attends or completes mandatory training, in-services and meetings as scheduled by the facility and/or Activity Director
  • Transports residents to and from Memory Care activities
  • Reminds residents and staff of memory care activities
  • Gathers supplies needed for activities prior to activity, and monitors supplies and use by residents at all times
  • Contributes to the residents’ care plan through memos or conferences with Activity Director
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Activity Director

Qualifications

Because of the nature of our center’s environment as well as its residents, the successful candidate will display dedication, strong compassion, good interpersonal and communication skills, and a genuine desire to assist an aging/frail population.  A high school diploma or GED is required. Experience working with persons with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s disease, or related field is preferred. An Art or Music background is also preferred.
