    Riverside Care Center is a 120-bed Skilled Nursing Center offering Cardiac and Orthopedic Specialty Care, as well as providing a Dialysis Unit and a Center for the Memory Impaired on site.

    This Director of Nursing position is a senior-level role and includes a host of diverse responsibilities across both clinical and managerial functions, including:

    • Hiring, training and evaluating all nursing department personnel
    • Developing nursing service objectives, performance standards and various policies/procedures for all categories of nursing personnel
    • Evaluating resident care as it relates to needs, family involvement and the physician’s plan of care
    • Assessing resident responses to medication and treatment, and providing skilled recommendations for necessary nursing next steps
    • Managing emergency situations and, in the absence of a physician, initiating life saving measures, as appropriate
    • Conducting daily resident rounds and initiating corrective action, as needed
    • Overseeing nursing orientations and new personnel training, as well as comprehensive in-service programs for licensed and unlicensed staff
    • Directing and implementing nursing educational programs geared towards geriatric residents and residents of varying ages, as well as programs designed for families and external caregivers
    • Planning and implementation of the nursing department budget, and ensuring all team members work within these guidelines
    • Directing the allocation of nursing service equipment and supplies within the facility, to maximize efficiency and economical utilization


    This management position reports directly to the Administrator, and will serve as the day-to-day leader for this important unit. As such, advanced training in nursing supervision/management is critical, as is sound medical and professional judgment, geriatric experience and top-notch interpersonal skills are essential. Professional requirements include a current PA RN license, as well as a minimum of 3-5 years supervisory or administrative experience in a long term care setting, preferably in a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing role. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge base in state and federal regulations and have proven leadership and administrative skills, with a professional demeanor.
