    Grane Home Health is currently searching for a full-time Home Health Coding Specialist to work out of our regional office RIDC Park – Fox Chapel

    Responsibilities

    • Review documentation and provide coding and sequencing as it relates to the patient’s medical condition and the reason for home health using current ICD-10 CM coding and guidelines
    • Prospectively reviews all OASIS assessments and 485’s to ensure appropriateness, completeness and compliance with federal and state regulations and organization policy
    • Observes and reports unusual patterns in data collection and/or lack of adequate documentation for code assignments
    • Perform physician query as needed to clarify documentation in the health record and achieve accurate code assignments
    • Consults with appropriate clinical staff to clarify and data integrities and works to ensure appropriate corrections are made per organization policy.
    • Maintains daily productivity and turnaround times as outlined in department’s performance improvement plan.
    • Performs other related duties as requested by the Home Health Regional Director of Quality Assurance.

    Qualifications

    • Proficient knowledge of OASIS
    • Working knowledge of CMS Condition of Participation in Home Health
    • Working knowledge of federal and state home health licensure regulations
    • Sound computer skills and adaptive to home health documentation software
    • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, compliance and reimbursement guidelines are required
    • Detail oriented with critical thinking and strong analytical skills
    • Must be self-motivated, responsive and committed to communicating with management
    • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in response to changes in work volume and work schedules
    • Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening, conflict resolution and team building
    • Minimum of one (1) year previous experience with ICD-10 coding with verified employment experience highly preferred

     

    Requirements of the Coding Specialist

    • Certification in Home Health Coding (BSHHC or HCS-D) highly preferred 
    • Certification in OASIS (COS-C or HCS-O) highly preferred 
    • At least one year of experience working in a home health setting
    • Valid LPN or RN license if applicable
