    Pharmacy Quality and Compliance Specialist

     

    Full Time – Pittsburgh Area

     

    The Pharmacy Quality & Compliance Specialist plays a critical role to ensure that Grane Rx maintains the highest levels of quality across the business through compliance with all federal, state, regulatory, and accrediting agencies. This role will support various strategic quality improvement initiatives, ensure compliance with all operating procedures, coordinate internal and external audits. Under the direction of the Quality Director, this role serves as a subject matter expert within the Company regarding state and federal regulations and works with individual departments to research, identify and address areas of vulnerability related to regulatory compliance. This includes tracking, reviewing and analyzing policies, regulations and compliance requirements that could impact pharmacy licensure.

    Responsibilities

    • Accountable for compliance with all state and federal regulations including licensure, prescription drug monitoring regulations, as well as the ongoing monitoring and maintenance of regulations/requirements to ensure continued compliance
    • Tracking, reviewing and analyzing policies, regulations and compliance requirements.
    • Read, interpret, summarize, Federal and State regulations and policies
    • Manage, maintain, and continually enhance Grane Rx standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations as well as accrediting agencies, including facilitating periodic internal audits and coordinating team / materials in preparation for external audits
    • Develop and deliver staff trainings related to quality and compliance to educate Grane Rx colleagues on changes to SOPs, change to state/federal requirements, including creation of materials for Leadership updates.
    • Continually monitor quality and compliance regulations impacting overall Grane Rx operations to quickly identify appropriate actions to take to position Grane Rx Pharmacy for continued compliance.
    • Investigate potential issues of regulatory and or privacy (HIPAA) non-compliance and coordinate provision of root cause analysis and impact reports for internal departments as well as downstream entities
    • Complete monitoring events to determine the level of compliance to newly instituted regulatory procedures and or corrective action plans
    • Perform internal audits and self-inspections
    • Document and maintain project plans and status reports as related to mock inspections, audits, and other ad hoc initiatives as needed
    • Acts as the regulatory lead on new and continuing customer pharmacy transition activities

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum 2 years of professional work experience at a pharmacy, health plan, pharmacy benefit manager, or state/federal agency
    • Previous quality and compliance experience in healthcare setting
    • Interest in Pharmacy Law, State/Federal Regulations, and overall compliance related activities
    • Minimum 1 year of professional work experience in a regulatory compliance, privacy, or investigation setting, preferably in a health care setting
    • Must possess strong research and analytical skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated competency in investigating potential errors and evaluating root-cause analyses
    • Possesses ability to analyze and interpret policy and regulations
    • Ability to deliver information accurately in a fast-paced environment with insight and perspective
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Internet
