Operations Manager

Aurora - Full Time

The Operations Manager assumes responsibility for directing workforce in the day to day operations of the pharmacy and professional growth of the department, contributes to development of policies and programs. This position is in the Denver area, but will require travel to other sites as needed. This position will lead and direct the back end pharmacy area which includes inventory, packaging, personnel, facility oversight, and shipping/delivery.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):

 

  • Supervises a group of team members and monitors productivity and quality.
  • Provide leadership and direction to build effective teams.
  • Emphasizes dispensing efficiency, safety and accuracy with team members, and manages the dispensing processes.
  • Works directly with Courier Service to meet logistic needs.
  • Management point for all team members working in Denver Pharmacy, and manages overall administrative, supplies, logistics, and building needs.
  • Trains team members in their assignments. Facilitates team member professional development by conducting on-the-job training, performance appraisals, and needs assessments. Responsible for recommending and assisting in the development of training curricula.
  • Conducts MBWA (Management by Walking Around) to ensure team member safety, address team member concerns, communicate essential information, and to enforce pharmacy policy guidelines.
  • Develops, reviews and recommends methods of operational improvement within their function area involving equipment, systems, corrections, activities and practices within their area’s responsibility.
  • Measures performance compliance and requirements and directs appropriate actions by team members and equipment to maintain performance at or above required levels. Maintains appropriate and required records for team members, equipment and KPI’s under their responsibility.
  • Manages department: budget, hours worked and assignments of work. Daily manages staffing needs for designated department: vacations, monitors turnover and volume.
  • Participates in team member concerns: reporting, follow up, investigating or disciplinary process.
  • Utilizes and updates system computer applications for proper operation and reports.
  • Within the guidelines of authorized Company policies, programs, procedures, budgets, laws, and good business ethics, directs, coordinates, and controls the activities, plans, and programs of the immediate staff, enforces company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree; high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management/operations role.
  • Prior experience in long term care and pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of business and financial practices.
  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma processes, green belt preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience required.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy automation and computers required.
  • Proficiency in desktop productivity tools, emphasis on Microsoft Office, including SharePoint.
