    RN SUPERVISOR Needed for Fast Growing Care Center

     

    Full Time - candidates must be available to work both 1st and 2nd shifts

     

    Kittanning Care Center, conveniently located off Route 422 three miles east of Kittanning Borough, is a 120-bed Skilled Nursing Center, including a 42-bed Center for the Memory Impaired and Specialty Care in Wound Management.

    Built in 1980, the facility underwent a $1 million renovation in 1997 and a second renovation in 2009. The large, single-floor building features two separate dining areas and two courtyards, one to accommodate memory-impaired individuals and one for other residents. Recent improvements include new lighting, wallpaper, and flat screen televisions, as well as new electric low beds, outdoor landscaping, and a complete renovation of our Dietary Kitchen. Our Center for the Memory Impaired also features its own circular outdoor walkway, so that residents can walk for as long as they like, without the frustration they typically experience when they come to the end of a path. Support facilities are conveniently located for easy access by all residents and families.

    At the center of our mission is our skilled nursing units, with the Nursing Supervisor/RN Supervisor overseeing significant day-to-day responsibilities and the general workflow forall RNs, LPNs and Nurse Aides.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include:

    • Ensuring policies and procedures are followed by all nursing personnel
    • Recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating RNs, LPNs and Nurse Aides
    • Conducting ongoing nursing unit rounds to review work in progress, evaluate resident care and handle routine medical needs
    • Initiating IV therapy and administers all IV drugs ordered
    • Assessing physical, mental, psychosocial status of residents, and securing follow-up care, as needed
    • Ensuring availability of all equipment, supplies, medications, and records necessary for effective operations during assigned shifts
    • Coordinating activities and personnel during emergencies
    • Managing schedules and staff assignments to meet resident care needs; participates in “on call” procedure as assigned.
    • Aiding in the admission of new residents, including the development of care plans to ensure that all medical, health and wellness needs are met
    • Additional responsibilities as needed/assigned

    Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our residents, compassion, patience, flexibility and a desire to serve are necessary for success in the RN Supervisor role. All applicants must be have a current, state-approved RN license or temporary practice permit, plus at least one year of experience in nursing and management (i.e. Head Nurse or comparable work). A strong knowledge of nursing principles, an understanding of long-term care regulations, and experience with Medicare/medical assistance is preferred.
