Integrated care leader Grane Hospice Care, Inc. is expanding its core interdisciplinary teams, and seeks an HR Assistant. This is a fast-paced role requiring a strong ability to troubleshoot, support a diverse staff and provide a resolution-driven first step for all organizational personnel that arise.


The HR Assistant will be responsible for a number of responsibilities including:

  • Process new hire paperwork for 3 lines of business and ensure new hire check list is complete prior to submission to Payroll.
  • Monitor and report on staff license expiration dates (nursing/aide/professional licenses, automobile insurance cards, driver’s licenses) and employee annual evaluation dates.
  • Report all staff in services in GEMS system. 
  • Maintain employee personnel files for designated office and conduct audits.
  • Process State/FBI criminal background checks & Drivers History Checks electronically and report results.
  • Run monthly exclusions check in Vigilance and report any findings to Manager.
  • Responsible for scheduling new hire drug screenings and pre-employment physicals and obtaining results for distribution to Management.
  • Coordinate regular CRP courses and certifications for Grane Hospice Pittsburgh, Grane Home Health Pittsburgh and Grane at Home Pittsburgh employees.
  • Process and distribute employee badges through Assure ID system.
  • Create Credentialing binders for facilities and submits new hire credentialing paperwork to facilities.
  • Creates new hire orientation binders and reviews content
  • Requests Relias account information from IT and acclimates staff with the training system. Ensures new hires have the necessary training plan assigned and monitors for completeness at time of hire and annually moving forward.
  • Updates and uploads Company content to Sharepoint for department heads/staff. 
  • Maintains tracking system for all contracts/agreements & conducts periodic audits to ensure required documents are up to date.
  • Prepares payor credentialing/re-credentialing packets and submits to Manager.
  • Preparation of data and documents for new licensure applications and renewals.
  • Coordinates Education/Tuition assistance requests and obtains all relevant documentation prior to submission for approval.
  • Assist in the development and tracking of post 90 day employee satisfaction surveys for all sites as well as exit interview logging into respective tracking system for all lines of Business. Compiles quarterly report for Manager.
  • Receive and process employee expenses for each pay period. 
  • Assist with Employee Appreciation/Recognition efforts.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business or Health Care Administration Strongly Preferre
  • 3-4 years of work related experience
  • Complies with and understands the hospice philosophy, protocols, and mission
  • Possesses excellent organizational, computer, and communication skills; must be proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Is flexible and self-motivated; ability to work with minimal supervision required
  • Is able to work successfully as a member of an interdisciplinary team
